By car,,, take Rt. 84 east to exit 10S ( last one before Newburgh beacon bridge )goto botom of ramp and make right, goto light and make left (marine drive) follow for 2-3 miles (3rd light) and you will see gullies and the ramp. |
Audio !!
Jon, Gullies is about 40 minutes north of the TZ bridge, and an hour north of the city...
IF you were comming from MA just stay on rt. 84 west to exit 10S and follow the directions to gullies... SHANE !!!.. I talked to scott right after talking with you,, he said that he they planned on leaving the ramp at 9 sharp, which sounds good to me.. if you leave at 6:30 that should give you plenty of time to get the boat in and ready.. let me know.. |
What time will you be departing and is the launch at Gullies a public launch?
|
Ok so 9am is the departure time. What speeds are you all running. Shane thought that it was about 60 miles to the race? Is that correct? If so I will be JUST within my range if I take it easy!!! I can only carry I think it is 175 gallons with me. Anyone else maybe want to get a little bit of a head start with these speed freeks I think I will be one of the slower guys out there, but it is a nice stable ride :D:D. Maybe if a group of the slow pokes gets a 15-30 min head start we can all then hook up at the tapanzee bridge and go in together from there???? My cruise is about 35-40 mph I am guessing. I have yet to figure it out exactly but I am guessing from the feel of things that is accurate. I cruise at 3000rpm's with 1.5 ratio and 27"props with a high slip figure about 15% or more. What does that put me at I can not find the calculation!!! Also anyone know a decent resonable SAFE place to keep the boat over night and to crash? I will be coming down 84. I can even sleep in the boat no problem as long as there is a rest room.
|
Audio, I probably will only be cruising at about 50 mph. I have a 24 outlaw, so depending on how rough it gets - I may not be able to do that speed all the time.
|
Audio, I like a mellow cruise speed for the most part. 3400 rpm (which is 100 rpm below fuel sucking speed:p ) is 50 mph. At 3200 I am around 45 mph. When heading to the City I always cruise, run wide open for 30 sec t 1 min, then back down, come off plane and crack a beer at the Tappan Zee. I continue this pattern all the way down.
Nobody gets left behind! It is always a good time. Look forward to meeting you. By the way, I live close to Franklin Lakes and do alot of work in that area. |
It looks like it is shaping up to be a good sized group.
Shane Chris 232 Ken Audiofn FBRONCO Sonic99 and 26Sonic dckrafft XCAV8 Scott (Sonic) Hot Boat? Anyone else? It is gonna be a BLAST! |
9:00 am seems a little early to leave if we are planning on going to Chelsea Piers. We would be there by 10:30 am at the very latest. However, based upon the last meeting at Gully's (for the NYC poker run), I will bet that everyone will not arrive on time again and departure time will be closer to 10:30 am.
I might have a fuel problem myself for the trip around Manhattan after the races. I am not sure at this point what is the best way to deal with it, but I have until Sunday to figure something out. |
There is 93 octane at the NY Waterway marina, (not sure if that is the name of it) but you will not be able to get fuel until after the race since that part of the river will be closed. Maybe if you get down early enough before they close the river.
