Not trying to thread jack here, but is there any threads talking about real world situations with splashing other hulls? Say like theortically, I bought a ts cig vice and splashed it, built an entry level v hull. (Theoretically) since cig doesn't and hasn't made a 30 vice for some time, is there any legal reprecussions or like normal patents needing to change 20 or 30% ? I would just be curious or is it all fair game ?

Cat looked great with nice lines, be curious to see how it runs.

The Sonic 32 Cat (Target) on the show looks like a brand new hull (but its not brand new), have Brand New Mercury Racing 540īs with ITS Bravo XR -2"....

How much do you have to change a hull (if not at all) before you can reproduce it? i have been told it was 10% but someone just said 20-30%? it sounds as though you can copy whatever you want without any legal action taking place?
"(1) A design is “original” if it is the result of the designer's creative endeavor that provides a distinguishable variation over prior work pertaining to similar articles which is more than merely trivial and has not been copied from another source." Source: http://www.copyright.gov/vessels/ No "percentage" for patent infringement, determination is made either literally or via doctrine of equivalents. Otherwise, law school graduates would all be in the bread lines, instead of court. |

I read that it was licensed after the fact of being splashed. I read it on the internet so it must be true. Either way, why would Skater be OK with the sonic cat splash? Does not make any sense.
This boat has no relation to Nordic. |
Sounds like how every pickle fork jet is a splash of an eliminator Daytona. Some are extensively modified, but they originated from the Daytona.
