41' Cougar 1989

41' Cougar 1989 stagared setup, no engines, #3 drives, new paint, 6 man bolster setup, Marine Machine throttles, new gaffrig gauges and dash. old cabin. It is for sale around 60k.

What do you think

I looked under one of the bench seats in the cabin, and I could see light through the figerglass. no a hole, just thin Kevlar.

Is this OK, the salesman said all boats are like that even Skaters.

anyone got any info.

Yeh Shane its in St. Charles.

Hey your boat looks great.

Do you know any thing about this boat.

Do you still have that super hawaii.

The reason Kevlar is used is it's strength. They can lay them up with less mat because the mat is stronger. The less mat you have, the more light will pass. I have seen lots of boats like that-not even race lay ups. Hopefully one of the glass guys like Steve 1 will chime in and alay your fears-cause I don' no nuttin';)

I live about 20 miles from the Skater factory know a few guys who've been there and was told that you can see a person's shadow/image through the boat as they walk by.

Not to get too technical, but the fiberglass/resin is fairly transparent. The gelcoat is somewhat opaque. Coring (balsa, foam, etc) is usually completely opaque.
BTW, You can see a laser through even thick gelcoat and fiberglass. It's a good method to find a spot when drilling, etc.
Did Big Thunder move the multicolored Cougar from the Ozarks to St Charles?

Yep thats the boat Gary

Great idea with the laser-never thought of that before! Too bad it wont work throught a 3" thick transom:eek:

BTW- the word on the later Cougars is that they were overbuilt so you should be o.k..
