It looks to me from the pics that some boats appear smaller than advertised. Makes me wonder how some of these boats would compare size wise to each other: 30 activator/rage, 29 kryptonite, Y2K 30 or a checkmate 30'. I would prefer the larger/taller end of the scale, 29, 30+.... All of these are really high in my book. I thought I was going to have a tough time finding a higher speed, stable single platform but clearly I won't. Thanks guys!

You need a Velocity. It will do what you want. Fast, stable and a deep cockpit.

There are also some west coast boats that run (really) well with big power but for you're stated budget I'm thinking Checkmate as well; some of the Checkmate guys run impressive numbers and there's enough doing it that you can probably get some help with the setup.
I'm not an insurance guru, but if you have a clean record and some boating experience you can get insured but it's not cheap. If I understand correctly the meter really starts when you get into that 80+ category and really bounces when you hit the 120+ category (with I/O's or OB's - V-drive is an entirely different animal and I believe there is a premium for Arneson as well) All thing being equal I've been told Cats are more expensive than V's. The only insurance advice I can give is tell them exactly what you have. You don't need insurance until you "need" insurance - if that makes sense - and if you have a claim and your'e driving something other than what you've described they aren't going to cover you. Good luck with your search d |

The Kryptonite is a total sit down boat but runs with the big boys through the chop. I had no problem running 70+ through some of the nastiest chop out there and in poker runs quite often was the only sub 30+' boat first to the card stops. I had 550hp in mine and ran a solid low to mid 80's all day.
