Any input on these boats?
So im looking for a nice boat, here are two boats im thinking of looking at. Both have 454, no hour meters. They seem like they were well cared for. Id like to kno the value of them because id like to purchase one, have fun with it and be able to sell for a profit to put towards a bigger boat. So first is the 82 24' Pantera the other it an 89 Formula 242 ls. What's a good purchase price? What speeds will they do? Thanks

High 50's with the Formula, Pantera will probably be a hair faster. I'm a huge 24x7 fan, but given the choice of only those two, I'd take the Formula. I'm basing that on aesthetics alone, as I can't inspect for moisture issues, conduct a compression or leakdown check, or look at the drive oil. (Hint- if you won't pay for a survey, these are things you need to be proficient in before plunking down a wad of cash.)
Better graphics and a nice trailer will get more "curb appeal" with the Formula when you decide to sell.
Don't hold your hand on your azz hoping to turn a profit on a 25-30 year old boat, it'll freeze there. It's a depreciable good, treat it as such and enjoy it.
Price is determined by a variety of factors. When both you and the seller feel like you got hosed, that's a boat transaction.

Ok thanks everyone for the reply. Yes I definitely want to have them surveyed or moisture tested. Im liking the formula too, but who doesn't want a pantera this Formula is more practical newer and looks great. Ther dealer has a 13,999$ price on it soo im not sure about that.....? Pantera guy said hed take 11,000 over the phone, so im sure cash will talk. Not so much with a dealer

I don't know the boat, but this one may be of interest to the OP, it's even in NY:
