my new used h2x

I am about to buy a used 2002 h2x boss and was curious how pleased will I be with this boat, and what issues might I have. Waiting on weather to break for I can test drive her first though.

SVL-WARLOCK 03-04-2015 08:57 PM

Boat is awesome I had one with 502 mag

How pleased you are going to be will depend mostly on your own expectations.

It will have to have upgrades done to it for it to run 80+ MPH. A friend had one with a 454 MAG in it. I believe it ran just over 70 MPH

newspeed 03-05-2015 08:13 AM

Guy actually said he hit right at 70 by himself with half tank of beverage in it. Stock 496 mag with a 23 mirage 3 blade. First time baja owner hope I am satisfied! Garage kept well maintained boat.

Satisfied is fleeting , our boats are NEVER fast enough .

It isn't going to run 80 or even 70 with a 496 mag and a 23p prop..... to me it sounds a bit under propped. My Velocity 260 with 496 mag (and a PCM tune) ran best of 74 on an empty tank and a 26p labbed prop.. The Velocity is a much more efficient hull.

I had a 1999 H2X with a stock 454 mag mpi, 23p mirage+would give me 68 mph @ 5000 rpm. Loved the boat, shouldn't have sold it.

Back from the dead?

low_psi 03-05-2015 01:11 PM

I found this post from way back. Should give you a good idea on your top speed. If your a stock 496 mag non-ho you will most likely be shy of 70 but I was wrong above in stating it was under propped. Looks like the 23p prop is what you want, my bad.....

cdail28590 03-05-2015 01:18 PM

My buddy has a 05 h2x with a 496 mag and dana manifolds with a 26 bravo 1 prop and runs right at 68 mph at around 4900 rpm.

Newspeed- Speed in a boat is like crack... its great then you want more... than you need more......

Just stating my observations....

BTW welcome....

Its not that funny.

Brandonb_05 03-05-2015 06:27 PM

My buddy has a 02-03 h2x with a regular 496 mag. Not a HO. He has Dana exhaust and changed prop, other than that, it's factory. He is somewhere around 73 on gps. It's a nice ride, it handles very well, should be a real nice boat for the family. Congrats

Brandonb_05 03-05-2015 06:32 PM

Disregard my last post. Me and cdail are referring to the same boat. Maybe someone has been telling me their boat goes faster than it really does imagine that haha. But it is a nice handling boat.

:asskiss: You certainly keep busy connecting your lips to Andys ( aka Hoodini) A$$!

And so as not to hijack, to the OP, best of luck with the new ride!:ernaehrung004:

UR2late 03-06-2015 07:35 AM

Your a real funny one . Haha he is my friend. Sorry it seems to bother you so much.

SVL-WARLOCK 03-06-2015 07:41 AM

Frank. Thanks man. Sorry for the hijack.

Dave M 03-06-2015 08:25 AM

Enjoy your new ride. As far as some of these speed claims I am reading here.......look here and run the numbers http://www.go-fast.com/Prop_Slip_Calculator.htm

23P prop, 1.5 ratio, 5000 RPMs = 73 MPH with zero slip. Your slip is likely to be in the 12-15% range.

Good luck with the deal but never buy a boat without a sea trial first. If speed is a concern take a handheld GPS because most of those H2X's do not have GPS speedos and I've been reading alot of very optimistic speeds. I'd venture that setup is just north of 65mph with a load on a GPS. The H2X also has a 22 degree deadrise as opposed to the 24/25/26 that have 24 degree deadrise. For most inland waterways the H2X is fine but in the rough, the larger boats are a considerable better ride and with the deeper freeboard your family may feel more secure.

newspeed 03-06-2015 02:56 PM

thanks for the replies, but like anything I never buy with out a test drive or looking it over really good. As far as ride I am in Kentucky, so only rough if it's raining :-)
