Bilge outlets

Hi All....I am new to the group.

Does anyone have any knowledge of any products which will clean & restore shine to the metal bilge outlets? Mine are nasty greenish & dull and my boat sits in brackish, at my backyard dock, 24/7/365

First of all, welcome to the sight. Second if you're seeing a dull green finish, you most likely have a chrome plated brass fitting there. The bad news is that brackish / salt water will eventually corrode the chrome plating off - as it has in your case. What you now have is unprotected brass which turns green as it oxidizes.

There are metal polishes out there that will allow you to bring some luster back to the fitting, but all you'll get is a "polished brass" look. Unfortunately, it will oxidize back to green pretty quickly. A better solution might be to simply replace the fitting with a new one. The other thing this will prevent is your current fitting oxidizing into oblivion. You might even want to consider replacing it with a high quality plastic fitting.

A better option is to replace the fitting with a stainless steel fitting-No more rust or green . Jim

If the fitting is below the waterline don't be cheap
