Anyway Phragle - yeh, your hp is doable. Upper 5k rpm. Will be fine on the drive unless you drive the boat like you did when you raced offroad.

What compression are you comfortable with ? What octane can you get all the time ?
actually an older variant of that, it is already marinized and is based on mefi 3 and I believe it was on a 454 or 502

Get good exhaust that won't revert and run a cam similar to the crane 741 but with the 7/4 swap. Or, the cam that innovation put in the 600s would be good choice. You need good exhaust first and KEs (thunder and lightnings now) would be my first choice, particularly if a freshwater boat. Ironically they are also what innovation used on the 600s.

If it came off an Innovation 600, it was a 540 displacement.

If its based on the MEFI 3, I have the EFI tuning software if you guys need to change the tune a little.

Got a cam, hp500efi roller. and a gen 5 454 mag shortblock. Now to work on heads. I can get the standard mag rec. port heads but Im thinking a decent set of heads will probably make a huge difference with this combo.

u should be able to hit 70 with what ur running now, some rub on some speed wax on the bottom of that tank and drive it over niagra falls. ps barrels are for p*ssys!

for what it cost to do up a set of oem rect heads ur better off with some alum aftmkt heads which will tolerate more comp as they will cool much better, and they will out flow the oem heads too
