Planning Ahead.
Building a new house this spring. Want to make sure I'm covered for the next boat to fit in the garage. I have the garage depth at 52', but unsure of how tall a garage door I'll need to fit a 35' Fountain or 32' Sunsation on the trailer.
Thanks for in advance for any info. |
I would go 12'x12' doors at a minimum. Remember the width is going to be more of a factor when backing in the trailer than the height is going to be.

I have a 35' Cigarette and the 12' x 12' door works great.

10' tall door MINIMUM if planning ahead.
12' tall would be better if doable. |
10x10 and your truck mirrors will just fit. 12x12s aren't that much more.

I have two 10 High x 12 Wide doors on my building.
IMO, 12' Wide is mandatory if building a "bay" type configuration. In the off season, I tuck my boat within 3" of the side of the building. The ability to come in at an angle (especially with DRW fenders) and adjust the placement of the boat is mandatory. Remember, this is not an exact science. Some trailers are taller than others. (Many posts on this subject.) 32 Sunsations and 35 Fountains come in different configurations with windshields and fairings. |

As stated 10' high is minimum, you wont really need more than 12' as you wouldn't want to trailer anything over 13' in height due to regulations and minimum height clearances.
If you could do a double wide door 16' - 20' instead of two or more doors that would help in maneuvering it into the exact spot you want it. |
It all depends on how many mirrors or scratches you want to replace
I would want 12 x 16 wide 3pointstar |
