The 1984 Jesse James was a Chris Cat. The 1986 Jesse James was a 36' Conquest. The 1988 Jesse James was a 48' Conquest.

The original Jesse James (Mark and Chris Lavin's first race boat) was a 28' Cigarette..............The family still owns it.

We've got a 30' Aero Tek for sale, which, I believe, is the same as the Chris Cat. It's in the Classifieds under Other Cats. It's a great party boat with a big cabin, can run with about a dozen people, handles big water and with 3 V8's, runs about 80 - 85 mph. It's available with or without power, take a look. We don't need a 28 Skater and the 30 Aero Tek so the Aero Tek has to go. Will pay commission to anyone who brings us a buyer.

That was a hell of a race boat in it's day. Any you should have seen the crew! The name was appropriate for the driver's wife.

Wannabe

I like everything about my Chris Cat. Everything but that dam porpoising hop that it does around 90 mph. I can cruise at 2500 rpm ( gets a little misty) but is best cruising at 3000 rpm with the drive all the way up to its set limit. (#2 speed masters)This helps get the nose up to dry out the ride. If George Linder could have found a way to eliminate the hop, it would have been even better back in its day. But I can't say that anyone would ever have a porpoising problem on a race course in 3' to 4' seas. :D

Here is a pic of a Chris Cat taken from an original brochure. I would post one of my own but I have not found time to take any good in water shots.

There is a Chris Cat for sale in the classifieds here on OSO. John Estes the owner has managed to get a write up about it in Hot Boat twice and has a pictoral on Hot Boat web site. I can't believe someone has not snatched it up yet.

Hey Flashback,

I am seriously considering an 1998 AO 3100(will most likely purchase after test drive). I have been told by many people that they are the exact same running surface as the Chris Cats, is that hop something to be worried about with about 650hp per motor, is it pretty much undriveable past that speed of 90mph? Thanks in advance.

Too Old

Are you lusting after another boat before you get yours finished? Shame on you.:D John's Chris Cat is the nicest around. I have talked to him before about some things on my cat since he was allready familure with the Chris. He seems like a great guy and very helpful. John wanted to go faster and yet did not want to ruin the originality of his cat, so he bought a 35 Motion Cat. It would be a real find to the right person. There were only 250 Chris Cats made.
