Question Key West World Championships

Help, very new to Offshore Racing and want to watch a few races. What is the hot set up for KW?

Where to stay?
How to get tickets/passes?
The best place for watching the races?

email me at [email protected] if you have any insight or post here.

Thanks!!

The best place to stay in KW is the Ocean Key House. On the water at Mallory Square. Expensive, but you'll be in the middle of it all. Make sure you get a room facing the square on the 4th or 5th floor - 3rd floor and below you have a view of palm trees. Get tickets for the pit area when you get there. Best viewing depends on where they put the course. If it comes into the harbor your hotel is great. Have Fun!!

Hey Horseplay3, saw the pics of you're BT. Looks good! By the way this is John & Lesley from the "Thunder on the Bay" Poker Run in Maryland. Are you going down to the Worlds this year? We are starting to set things up with a friend that has 2 condos in the Keys. We may be coming down with a 39 Sutphen with big power! Maybe we'll see ya there!

Go to the APBA site
http://www.apba-offshore.com/location.cfm?EventID=17
And click on the course map in the upper right hand of the page. This will show you exactly where the boats will run. The park next to the military base is great to watch from as is the bar at the Ocean Key house.

Just get there and go with the flow. Tickets? We never bought tickets.

Hi Guys! We're going to KW the week of Nov. 2. There is a group of us who have been going together. When they moved SBI over to New Orleans we figured what the heck - you don't need the races to have a great time in KW!!!!!!!! You're welcome to join us. We leave Ft. Lauderdale on Monday morning and eat out way down. (There are too many fun places to stop). I'm going for a water test on the new boat on the 17th. Feel like a kid at Christmas.

Another time then. We'll be back in KW at Christmas time.

Regadning Key West - if you're planning to go by boat the place to stay is the Galleon Marina at the foot of Front street. The Hyatt next door is nice and convienent. Also less money than Ocean Key House.

Once in KW, rent bicycles. Best way to get around & no parking hassles. Call Conch Bike Express. Nicer bikes. They'll deliver to your hotel.
