Tuff 28 throwing down!

https://www.facebook.com/tuffmarine/...7998675330929/

Saw this on Facebook, hard on the limiter. Anyone want to lend me some money?

floatingphil 04-26-2015 09:42 AM

The ice must be out of Muskoka.

RBT 04-26-2015 09:59 AM

It is, but I do t know where he ran. Don't think it was up here.

offshorexcursion 04-26-2015 10:44 AM

There was a thread a while ago about if there was any boat you would want I listed a new Tuff as one of the boats. I like what I hear and what I have seen about Tuff. Thanks for posting the video, and I am with you, I need some money too....

pro27 04-26-2015 06:47 PM

What motor (HP) ?

RBT 04-26-2015 08:06 PM

I called mark today, it is a 725 illmor and Indy drive. Don't recall the the gear ratio. But the only prop he has is a 17x30. He said he needs a 16 or 15.5x34. As ypu can see in the video it hits 6500 rpm (the limiter) and the speed continues to climb as the prop starts locking up. It should run 115 plus.

Nice

Would like to see some video of the boat and not just the gauges and the numbers seem impressive.

Best I can do, I told mark I'll do some go pro vids..... Of course I'll need to be in it to operate it. Lol

He was running out of Bayfront Park/ Hamilton Bay. In Hamilton Ontario Canada. Situated just off the west end of the Western basin of Lake Ontario.

Just wondering what the weight, and deadrise of the hull is in the video. Is there anything under the front deck,as far as cushions or bunks of any kind.

Stable too. Love it. One of our 700 Stacker packages would be a hoot in one of these. That's on my bucket list. Pro 27 Im fairly sure it's a Challenger derived hull. Similar to my Kryptonite or your Progression.

I don't think it has a 24* dead rise.

RBT 04-27-2015 08:38 AM

The tuff is a completely new design, I am trying to find pictures of the bottom. It has no relation the the challenger. Fresh design, cnc cut.

Neither did a 21 Challenger…

Good info RBT. My bad on that.

pro27 04-27-2015 10:30 AM

My Progression has 24 degree bottom nothing like challenger either.Challenger and Kryptonite both have 21 degree and a little harder ride in rough water.

It's still pretty similar to the Challenger. Same pad, bow entry etc. Yours is beautiful btw. Spent a lot of time in two 27s we maintain up here, they run awesome.

pro27 04-27-2015 07:52 PM

Thanks for the compliment Team Saris.Looking forward to more info on this Tuff, would like to know the weight of it,and what is under the front deck.

The more I watch video off your boat the more I wanna just say screw it and go IO have to say last video I saw your boat looked very very very well behaved at speed! I've been thinking when it's time to repower instead of going E-tec G2' Raves maybe do a 725 limor with your IMCO drive what's your thoughts on that pro27 I'm assuming it's gotta be cheaper then buying a new boat and hell I love the hull?

Dam I knew you where coming didn't expect that till next year however! NICE!!!!! Honestly only thing holding me back is one engine where I boat if it goes things could end very badly. However to get the most performance wise out of the 27 IO is without question the way to go....... In your research and I know you actually do research did you look at the Ilmor?

pro27 10-25-2015 11:27 PM

No did not look at Illmor, very happy with my whippled Mercury set up,oh that's rite you have an issue with Mercury. From what I've seen and read Illmor does make a pretty good product, just not many dealers for back up support.

No problem with merc I just refuse to buy a product from a company that doesn't stand behind there own product. In my professional career I deal with a lot of engine manufacturers and when I say a lot I mean way more then most guy's on here or scream and fly. If any of them did what merc did to me I wouldn't deal with them either so I can't justify doing so in my personal life. However the CEO of Able has a big ilmore in his ski boat and loves it and there's a local dealer near my beach house that works on and sells them they would handle the warranty and basic maintenance. Biggest issue for me was finding a performance boat mechanic that I could trust to handle the rigging. Thank god for these sites without them I would have never met my tech or should I say he would not of decided to save my ass.
