Looking for a surveryor in Baltimore area
I am looking at purchasing a 25' Baja in the Baltimore area. Anyone know of any reasonably priced surveyors in that area?

This will be the first time I have had a survey done. Not a lot of systems to check on Baja 252 Islander. Any idea what I can expect to pay for a survey.

get a MECHANICAL inspection done as well by a real certified OEM tech. If it is a MPI engine make sure they have the ability to scan the engine and able to understand the results and parameters of the scan. Pulling outdrives (inspection) and engine leak down tests, spark plug reading & fuel pressure tests are highly recommended. I even like to drain the gear oil and pressure test the outdrive especially if I see brand new oil or any traces of milky oil. I also like to check propshaft runout. Engine vacuum tests is another good test to perform especially for carb engines. Fuel samples from the gas tank should be performed especially with todays gas blends and those problems it creates. There is also water detecting paste that can be used for gas and oil for water intrusion testing.
Even a lake test and again if MPI engine running the scan while running the boat down the lake. Most surveyor's - not all - are not that engine indepth nor have the current equipment to properly diagnose current engines. Just saying. |
Hope the boat isnt caught on fire befor or after.
