Default Outdrive advice?

So my first time out with my new to me 29" Warlock. The boat has a IMCO upper and Bravo lower. The boat has a 540 with a super charger big horsepower and a huge cam surge. My wife for some reason threw it into drive on a high rev after that I had no forward or reverse had to get towed. A mechanic buddy of mine said I blew the cone clutch in the IMCO upper. Does this sound right? I was hoping to get some input.

Thanks

Sounds like a strong possibility. BUT I am not a drive expert, I never slept in a MOTEL 8 either.

I'd be more pissed that she blew the drive and not you.

Had a similar issue several years back. Drive got dumped in fwd at high rpms. Can you shift the drive at all? Mine welded the cone clutch to the shaft and was stuck in fwd but couldn't shift.

I can shift forward and back but nothing will engage.

Ouch, I'd buy a Fountain that comes with some skanks. But keep them away from the helm.
