Speedway gas
Anyone the quality of Speedway gas. They took over Hess gas stations in my area, was wondering if gas is good.I use 93 octane in my boat.
They have acquired the Hess stations here in PA too. I have experienced no issues with the gas and diesel at our local stores.
Around here, Northcoast Ohio, Marathon trucks fill the Speedway tanks, FWIW.
Typically (but not in every case) pretty much all base gas comes from the same tanks at the tank farm, what changes is the additives that are added at the time the gas is pumped into the tanker truck for delivery (techron etc...)
Been using Speedway for years in High Perf Outboards....Bridgeports, 300x's and 250 Xs's......no issues!
THe problem with cheap gas is they go cheap/light on the detergent additives so you get carbon buildup over time.

Put a tank of it in the ZO6, seems to run fine all the way to redline.
Rob, most of it comes from the Canton refinery. Also, a Large Marathon refinery in Detroit, a lot of supply, they sell to other outfits. Not sure if Lima refinery does the same??? |
Speedway gas stations have really grown around here in the past 10 years or so. I like that they usually have clean bathrooms, fresh donuts, decent coffee, and some are like mini supermarkets. Some of them around here, sell 100 octane fuel too. I've never had an issue with their gasoline, diesel, or coffee.

Speedway in Avon Lake had 100 octane last year, they just took the pump out. No more fun. If anything it smelled good in the bikes!
