I hope you guys are all posting over on this thread about outboards being cheaper to run.......

Ideally, I'd like to see an outboard that makes the same noise as an inboard. Lol.

At least you don't have to stand on your head to work on a outboard.
How about when a engine is installed without a oil drain hose. It almost makes it not worth changing the oil.

Really? I just see a bunch of people complaining about stuff and it's apparent they've never designed anything.
Why is the sea pump on the bottom? Because pumps like NPSH.
Upside down oil filter...so it drains.
Why is the trim manifold down there? So they can run 1-line as long as possible.
There's not a legitimate complaint in this thread.
Edited for better manners.

Mercruiser is all I have really worked with other then a 440 v drive and a 302 with an eaton. The nice thing about mercruiser is when they make new things they try to keep as many parts the same as possible. I just did the alpha to bravo swap and was ecstatic on how easy it was.not to mention the inside transom plate is the same part

I have had problems working on merc stuff but it is easier if you use the right tools designed for the job. I would however love to give a good swift kick to some boat manufacturers!! Some boats were not designed to be fixed.
