You said you had an oil sheen on the water so your problem most likely is the seal in the head itself.

I did find this wear on the rod and the bronze bushing. What should I do? The kit will contain a new bushing. Can I polish the rod? The end cap seal looks good but I haven't removed it yet for real close inspection. This problem started at the end of the second season that it was installed. There was never an impact or anything that could have bent the rod slightly. Do I need a new rod? Maybe a whole new cylinder?

Something is definitely misaligned, to cause that, might be time to visit a local hydraulic shop and see what they have to say. May need a new rod.

I've discussed this with Paul Everett and sent him the pics. We will figure out the solution. I should have called them first I guess but I figured this would be a simple re-seal job.

Nothing like seeing what makes it tick for yourself. Plus the fact you have qualified professional help on hot standby if things are beyond your skills. Carry on.

BOTH steering rams are going to Everett Performance (Zeiger) and they will go through them. They've been great about returning calls and e-mails.

Paul has also been great to work with. We'll get this resolved.

Yep, polished SS but I get your point and mine are NOT perfect.

Will post updates. No matter the outcome I won't rag on these people though. Doing business with them was a pleasure and now that I need some help they are showing an interest. Sounds like they want to make this a quick turnaround too. I hate my boat being down!

And FIXX, thanks for your help.
