My dads ranger fish and ski has one of these bolted to the 225 merc optimax. Planes the boat out in nothing flat. Accelerates like a banshee. He tried taking it off and putting on a 4 blade and the boat ran worse. I think they are pretty good for a fish n ski or that type of application.

27 Fountain,

Hydromotive has a five blade that should work great on your 27. I think they are somewhere above $1,000.

Hey Scottr...haven't seen you post for a while. How's the engine operating in your Fountain? Did you get all the kinks worked out? What kind of speeds are you getting now? Steve

Hi Indy,

This year we have run all season without incident. Ultimately we ended up going to aluminum heads and have been running 4 1/2 lbs of boost with 8:1 blower pistons. I might get brave next year and up the boost. Hard to say if it was the Whipple computer, knock retard sensor or poor spark that consistently ate head gaskets and pistons. All is fine right now. Boat is very lively. We have run anywhere from 78 to 83 depending on load, temp and water. Consistently 80. Added an XR drive at the beginning of the season. Saving my pennies for a five blade Hydromotive. Talked to Hydromotive earlier in the season. Should be able to make it plane easier, plus pick up some top end. Looking for 85 with the extra boost and prop tweaking. Did not get to CT this summer. Still would love a ride on the Nordic.
