Default Has anyone run a Mercury 600 or 700 at high altitude?

I'm getting ready to go to Lake Tahoe(6200') here in about a week and I was wondering if anyone here has run a Mercury 600sci or 700sci at a high altitude? This will be the first time taking the Merc 600sci up there.

Normally when we would go to Tahoe we needed to prop down 1 or 2 sizes so the boat will get on plane. The Mercury Racing website says that the motor will make 600 h.p. at any altitude or temperature. Theoretically I shouldn't have to do that this time?

And now I'm hearing that the motors actually don't run that well at altitude without a reflash of the computer?

Anybody with any kind of experience with this would be appreciated.

Well I did some "real world'' testing and the motor DID NOT turn out the same power at a higher elevation...not even close.
