Neat but seems overly complicated for the sake of being different. Also the engines would not be 7.0l if they use a ls9 rotating assembly.
Seems like innovation to me! About time we see some more tech.
Well heck its something a whole lot different. Not A merc racing engine or Bravo outdrives nor a Cig nor a Fountain nor a DCB or Skater that we hear about all the time. I like different and the sportboat world needs some new good news. Just saying
awesome engineering! something quite lacking in the marine industry.......great job to all involved ........ hey mercury u reading ?
By letting the transmissions compensate for what probably is a narrow powerband instead of just going f.i. they also have a nice clean easy to service engine compartment there .
Weismann has been doing the multi-gear transmissions for awhile haven't they?
I wont be on the level of these guys but I just got my all alum 5.7l ls1 off the dyno here at work did 409hp with very conservative AFR and BSFC. this will be going thru a bravo drive that will be in a pontoon. :) :)
These motors a cheap to build, and weigh almost 400 pounds less then a dress BBC. For me that was the determine factor. |
Thanks, Good read!

would love to have been a fly on the wall through the development of the Quickshift and all its iterations, that is some fascinating stuff. It is great to see a family with such a long innovative history, love poking through their website.

Been working with Pat and Chris for over 20 + years they can build anything you need or want. I know the boat well I built it originally for the Ettore team.
That's freakin impressive, and a crap load of work.
LS9 crank stroke - 3.622" LS7 - 4.000"...... Hmmmmmmmm |
Haha, that's awesome. They gave my jet boat a shout-out in the first sentence of the article!
I love it, very interesting rigging and layout, way to go.
anyone thought of putting them in an unlimited hydro? its time to bring the thunder boats back !
We used LS9 steel rods in this build. And an aftermarket LS7steel crank. 12 to 1 pistons and a big cam.
It tough holding the engine WOT running 7200/7400 so we made some changes to keep them happy. We also run 100 octane just to make sure they are good on fuel. Hydros ran our stuff in the 70's and were banned out of h class by Bernie after we were looking to get back in with George Stratton and a 3 speed....Advanced United was one of our boats in the 70's we also did 5L and a few others. Thanks for the kind words it is a fun project. pat W

Cool stuff!! The sound of those motors at high rpm give me a gold boner!
