Nortech Fiberglass & Paint Finish

I had a friend call me and was telling me he was surprised of the finish that he had seen on a Nortech boat with the fiberglass / paint work down the side looked like a cheap fiberglass / paint job. He compared it to how some cheap RV side walls look. He has been around boats so I know he knows what great fiberglass & paint looks like.

Is this a fluke?

I was also surprised to see this on a couple high dollar cats down in Florida. They may have been hackjob re-paints. I think they were two MTIs, pretty wavy.

Ever see a brand new outerlimits? There are more waves down the side than you can shake a stick at...think it has to do with the light layup. Has nothing to do with shoddy work or crap paint.

In comparison our old heavy 1994 top gun is like glass. No waves at all.

Yup all cheap junk

The new NorTech CC's are pretty damn straight. My buddy's 340 has dark blue hull sides which would show any flaws. Paint and mold work is excellent. No sign of print-through.

Pulled from the mold too quick ???

I was looking at a new 39' top gun a few weeks back and I was impressed how the boat looked in and out. The bilge shined and was just as smooth as the outside was. It was one fine piece of art.

I've seen lots of boats with waviness down the sides, including my own. ...whether it is an '02 or late model. It looks like crap to me, but I'm a Quality Manager - my job requires a critical eye. I just try to overlook it as best I can. The car business is much more fit & finish critical than the boat business, that's for sure.

Both my Nortechs have been straight and painted very nice from the factory. Both were also rigged 1-10, an 11. My CC has been flawless with 0 issues.
