Ridiculous. Where are:
Lake St,. Clair
Lake George
Lake Erie
Lake Ontario
Lake Huron
Lake Charlevoix
Torch Lake
WTF? St. Clair and Erie are two of the most popular lakes in the country. And no Lake Huron? The third largest lake in the world and a recreational boater's dream. Another reason to never get USA today.

I think its just what a person is used to, some places have many amenities along the shore due to the sheer numbers of people, others are wide open but besides scenery and beaches no social thing going on.Give me open space any day! That said I definitely want to visit loto to see the mayhem.

This thread reminds me of the loto vs Havasu threads on here from the early 2000's. Some classic stuff there

^^^ Do not blame you one bit for moving your boat out of the area - North Texas Lakes really is not a place to be if you are a serious boater and especially a sportboater. Austin area when there is enough lake levels is a far better choice.
Texoma is fine and PK, I like those lakes to boat on when they are safe to do so. PK has some cool scenery. IMO the rest of the lakes in North Texas are such mickey mouse. The past 5 or 6 years constant drought and this year huge flooding still has about 35 to 40 % of the boat ramps closed.
Been here over 30's years, all the lakes around the DFW area, the water has never been clean or clear plus in the dead of the summer heat smells like dead fish. The water temp of it is way too warm as well. Their is no real scenery to look at like in the Northern states.
IMO this area is average at best for boating compared to example LOTO, Great Lakes, and the many nice lakes in the North Eastern States plus not one lake in North Texas could or would ever come close to Lake Powell or Lake Tahoe. Idaho has some very nice lakes to. Just saying
