My boat is a little bit overkill for that short of a run, but I talked to jim and I think we will go beat it in his 28 skater someday when we're down there with nothing to do. Maybe during the key west races. We should be able to make it down there and back in 2 hours and have Tristan follow us in my boat for a safety boat.

Everyone already knows Apache's are not built for speed.

The 50 was the number on the side. Its not a 47' its a 45'.

it came from the 47 mold, they cut down the front so they could see after they ran it the first time. Richie Powers has posted about it before.

Correction - I had originally heard that the seas were 2' to 3', WRONG...it was 2' to 3' on top of 8' to 9' rollers. If you are on Instagram go follow ApachePowerboats and there is some nice footage of them running. Not sure why its not posted here as the swell are awesome. Seeing is believing. GREAT JOB on that run.

That's some big water! Great run for the guy that owns the boat!! Thats a real eye opener and a really cool ocean exsperiance. Hopefully he can try again on a better day. Hats off to him for putting a team and boat together and giving it a shot.

All the spot timing and the German boating website say it took an hour and 45 minutes, from the boot-online site: translated from German

"In about 1 hour and 45 minutes, was Roger Klüh and his West team with speed boat Apache star the distance from key to Havana. When the Apache star reached the Bay of Havana, waited for the arrival of thousands of cheering Cubans and they made star team Apache a veritable Festival.

"It is a heroic gesture, to have overcome so many difficulties," says Commodore Díaz Gautam, Director of the international Hemingway Yacht Club in Havana, who supported the project from the outset.

The time for the route was not essential for Klüh, in the foreground, the unifying idea was: "I'm glad that go to the United States on Cuba," says Klüh at a press conference upon his arrival in Havana. "It has allowed me to make my dream come true."

I am going to wait till they are back in the states just incase there is bad communication in cuba and they might have been mis-quoted on some of the story. But I take endurance runs pretty serious and I will give them a chance to put the real account of the run before we upload all our resources information on weather, waves, distance, time, ect.

Here is the starting point and ending point for the 1 hour 50 minute time it took them to travel 105 miles. They are saying it was over 110 miles so if you add a few to each end it would be a little bit more time then the chart and spot tracker show. And I think the wave reports for sea height match more with wind speed along the run then with wave height, maybe they were mis-quoted?
