Well you have a upper hand here because you know the boats history. And yes depending on State law, it would be a salvage title if the Ins buys it. At auction, buyer beware, motors?drives?Eletronics? Rigging? Unless you personally know the boat (as you Stated) someone would be foolish not to assume half the mentioned stuff needs to be replaced.

rob i'm actually suprised the ins. co. would consider fixing it. when an auto is submerged it is immediatly totalled by the insurance co. i was told by an agent that its because 90% of the time they develop future problems because of the water, was also told that it is standard policy for most ins. co's. have him mention that to his company if they try to push the issue and ask them why this would be any different. still for the right price it might be an interesting project for an ambitious person.
