I think it kinda depends on your transom layout - swim step, bustle, etc. Also, true dry exhaust is actually rare for non race boats. You can't run any type of reversion prevention with true dry exhaust. Not even flappers because of the heat. So most will run a pin hole at the tip to wet flaps. I ran them on my Baja. They were loud but not annoying unless it was night time and really quiet.

Your exhaust still come out vertically through the engine hatch??

Such a bad azz ride. You bought that thing right even with the motor letting go.

My exhaust is dry all the way through the transom and dumps water right at the end. I have switchable mufflers and the water mixes where the mufflers bolt on.
With my mufflers closed, my 502mpi's sound about like 525efi's with wet exhaust.
With the mufflers open, it is quite a bit louder, especially at cruise speeds in the 3000-3500rpm range. I prefer to cruise with the mufflers closed.

Not trying to be argumentative but I've been running my Salisbury type flappers on my totally dry exhaust for two seasons now without issue.

Really? Heat from the exhaust usually burns the sh*t out of the flaps. Burnt mine so bad even with the pin hole water dump that the steal belting inside the rubber flappers was coming through after one season. Rendering them virtually useless.

do you have drive showers?I've seen boats w/ them get by w/ all the spray hitting them.
