Stainless VS Dana Headers

Hi , just did one of my mistakes and bought a set of big tube headers (the one that blings when you open the hatch) after 5 hours of they started leaking . yes 5 hours from new !!!

i dont trust these type of headers any more and i am going for something more reliable, i saw the Stainless Marine Gen 3 and the Dana as well .

has anyone had one these headers ? which is the best ? which are the most reliable

by the way motor is a Dart 572ci makes around 650hp

no experience with Danas but the genIII Stainless are some great headers. I have had two sets and liked them a lot and never had any issues. Not many guys running the danas and i;m not sure why they seem like a really nice piece and i really like the way they look.

Probably because they had the same terrible experience that I had with Dana himself! Look up past stories!

My CMI's popped 3 times so I went to the Stainless Marine headers 2-3 years ago. I'm not sure if I have gen II or III, but they're on a 525. I had my mechanic paint them blue to match. No problems, no power loss, same sound. Very happy.

Bulitz 08-19-2015 08:37 AM

how did you know that your CMI's were leaking ? because i went to change the plugs and noticed that the headers were leaking !
power wise its the same ?

So whats happening with the new 5 hr old headers, what brand ? are they taking them back

ICDEDPPL 08-19-2015 09:43 AM

I bought used Gen IIIs .. much better than the Leaky 'sprinkler' Stellings I had .. not so much bling but peace of mind. Not sure you need the Gen III`s for 650hp.

No issues, I have two riser elbows for sale FYI.

K&E's are great for 650hp.

CMI has bee tremendous to work with for our team. as we developed the new 1100/1350/1650 header system they studied and tested with us each step of the way. Very happy with their support. Miss Geico.

I have had great luck with Lightning Headers. They offer a full stainless big tube header. If you do a search on here you wont find many if any problems with them.

Excess steam out the exhaust, rusty plugs, etc.

I still get the same speeds. Sounds the same too.

Well, you kinda did since 'big tube' is one of their lines. Anyhow, glad that's cleared up.

On another note- Stainless Marine is awesome to work with. For my application I wanted a custom tailpipe with a few goodies added on and they fit like a glove.

Bulitz had bought the much talked about XS Headers:
http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...r-headers.html

This is good info Bulitz - sorry you where the first to buy from here and had issues - but, the good part (not for you, but for everyone else) is that we now have info on these low cost headers. Info being they only lasted 5hrs.

F-2 Speedy 08-27-2015 09:45 AM

I wonder how many guys want them now ^^^^^^^ someone in that thread said ( sounds to good to be true ) I hope you get your money back OP
