I run KE's system which has a belt driven external pump. KE recommends 10psi/1000 hot. Thats what I run with a petroleum based oil and all has been good!

THanks guys ! I have Melling pumps on my 1000's. I don't have restrictors to the top end . I have herd all different stories about that . I think the springs need oiling . I am in the final stages of getting them ready to go out for testing . I only had them running for a minute or 2 as I had a cooling problem ( NO WATER ) . I know it had pressure but not sure how much . I would guess around 40-50 with 20 /50 racing oil cold.

the motor that i had built by jim oddy ran93 psi on the dyno in the boat thru the coolers and stuff was about 70-75 and hot was around 65. the reason that they gave me for the higher pres was the give more cushion on the bearrings. but need a good oil pan for the windage. ran 150 hours before tear down . was a 496 at 12 psi at 828hp.

Jim Oddy ha s the fastest pro mod mph 230 something .fred hahn is the driver.oddy uses bds. i allready had built the motor with the littlefield. boot the blower is a mert littlefield stage 3 8.71 with the hard anaidized inside with the tef. strips. had 2 1050 dom on it ran at 8 % overdriven around 12 psi thru the supperchiller. never had any detination , no speckling on plugs.this was a good pump gas motor..sold that boat and kept the motor plan on puting in my 69 camaro . send blower back to tighten up , put in a soild roller turn up boost on race gas, and see what it will do then.

Rob , Looks like you and I are going oposit ways . I gave up the street/track to go full "blown" into the boat thing ! MY girl is a big Camaro fan so I'll probably end up with a 67-69 in the garage for her soon ! I have 8-71's on the boat too . They are BDS, but have Littlefeild stickers on them ? I bought the boat that way . IT is suposed to be set up for 8-9 psi. I haven't even seen that much . Allthough I have very limited time in it due to problems . Hopefully I'll get it worked out soon . Thanks for the info.Maybe when I get the bugs worked out I'll mix a little race gas just to be safe and turn it up to 12psi !!
