Need some help from mercury guri's with twin 400r verses 350 on cc

I'm considering purchasing a new 33' cc with twin 350 verado's that comes with 3 year warranty which you can get an additional 2 years for $700 for both motors. Which will give me a 5 year warranty on motors. Or should I get the new 400r twins for an extra $14,500, 5-6 mph faster and only 2 year warranty??? weight being the same, both will run on 89-91 octane? For the $14,500 for an additional 5-6 mph and only a 2 year warranty does NOT make this very attractive.

Any input or suggestions to help educate me on the differences or persuasive me to make the decision to spend the extra $14,500 would be appreciated.

what are your thoughts?

Save the money and turn your 350s into 400s when the warranty is up.

Is 5 mph gonna make that much of a difference to you? I'd take the 5 years + the $14,500 in a heartbeat.

#1) A Mercury Gold Dealer (I think thats what they are referred to) gets certificates or coupons of some sort for their sales efforts & can GIFT you the additional 2yrs of warranty which = a savings of $700

#2) I ordered my 2015 Nor-Tech 340 w/ Triple 300's once Mercury announced the release of the new 350's & 400R's I amended my order w/ SportBoats Marine / Nor-Tech & upgraded to triple 350's for quite a bit less than $14,500 so I don't think you are getting a very good deal. I was told I could upgrade from triple 350's to 400's by doubling that $$ which basically told me the price difference from 300's to 350's is the same as 350's to 400's.Keep in mind to go from 300's to 350's requires additional rigging (remote fuel filters) and a special tiebar that going from 350's to 400's doesn't (b/c they both require it) so that tells me you are getting even less of a deal.

My boat will run 80mph+ on a good day, an honest 75mph ALL DAY LONG, what I will tell you is that 80mph in a 34' CC is not so comfortable when the T-Top acts like a kite.

#3 I also agree w/ Hogie Roll

Hope this helps!

For you I think resale will be the biggest issue. 3rd new boat in 2 yrs, I think everyone will want the 400s on a new boat. Warranty is secondary for you as you won't own the boat when it runs out anyway!

.

I would get the 400R for resale value and bad-ash look

I'd get the sportmaster lower unit which is not available on the 350

towards the end of the 2 year warranty period, I'd get the additional 1 year warranty

I pretty sure you can get up to 5 years on the 400 r. It was released just last month. The 350 now can get up to 7 year warranty. Buy the 400 r only way to go. Chris you building a new boat thats surprising !! lol

I love OSO... You all are funny. I agree with half of you and the other half as well. Yes, Bill I am considering doing this **** again...Live and learn. I don't wanna have $300k+ in a cc again. I am sure you will understand doing poker runs and sightseeing towing a 36-40' heavy ass boat is NOT fun. I'm sure you heard about most of my issues with my statement. Finally sold it. Headed to Michigan... Lots of bling but lots of upkeep too. We wanna keep it simple and enjoy it not clean it all the time... My wife and I have decided to buy something a little smaller and much cheaper. We want to buy real estate in Florida. This being said. I want the boat for the key west poker run. 350's are 10-14 weeks out on back order. 400r are 9 weeks out BUT... they called me last night and said Mercury called back and had a cancellation for 400r's and I can have them in a week. I have not heard anything about extending the warranty on 400's. I will check into it.

Thanks for all the feedback. Nascat glad your loving your boat. I talked to you before ordering yours about mine. Nortech is by far the best boat on the market for a cc. You definitely get what you pay for...

Yes I remember. I have to admit I was surprised when you went the direction you did but ultimately you had more knowledge than I since I hadn't owned either at the time. Sorry to here of your dissatisfaction but be thankful you have moved on & still have the resources to own something else new.

Good luck regardless of what you decide upon.
