Mine is a 34.
There is a 31 runs out of the marina where I keep mine and I've seen him running in our typical chop. Appears to handle ok, nose up a little more than mine but I've never ridden in it so sorry, I'm not a lot of help there!

Anything from the 90's you need to check carefully. Get someone to check for moisture, not specifically Fountain but any boat you consider. That word SURVEY springs to mind. If they've been treated nicely and most are dry stored, you should be able to find something solid. Just get an expert to check before handing over your hard earned.

Jefferson marlago 35. Cuddy and head in the console.

I don't stay on it frequently but it's nice to have the choice. The pads should be thicker or firmer for this.

Has wood free construction, so no rot to worry about. This and the cuddy plus the head were the main shopping points for me, and then later 4 strokes were a requirement. This boat has a 9'2" beam. It also has a pad bottom for a little extra speed and efficiency.

As far as engines I'd take anything with a Suzuki, yamaha except the 350 and 225, and verados. 2 stroke boats are worth much less, but you can look at re powering. Suzukis are generally priced the best for repowers.

Donzi are probably finished nicer, but they are more fishing oriented. I wouldn't mess with a scarab unless the floors had been redone. Fountains weren't built as well by the time they went wood free imo. The early ones are built pretty beefy. For my next boat I think I'd like the 39 midnight express but that's a lot more coin. Good luck

Thank you all for the replies, all the insight is helping me out.

I figured a lot of these boats in my price range (1990-2000 years) would have wood in them. I understand the risk with it but also understand my current budget. I am tossed between a 1991 Fountain with 98EFI and a 95 Scarab (one with 95 carb and one with 98EFI). I just know the scarab will have soft spots but the Fountain might not run as good in the rough waters. How are the early 90's fountains? These boats I'm looking at all have some good and some bad. Fountain doesn't have the greatest seating but I can adjust, while the carb motors has the bolsters but older motors. Decisions decisions. Does anyone know the price range for these years? I know there are a lot of variables but what is over paying and what is a good deal.

My 32' walkaround with i/o's and half a tank of gas is 8,600lb. For the O.P. it's for sale.

It's their way of trying to explain why Fountains are so much faster! Hahaha.
