Anyone looking for winter work in S. Florida?
A new condo project on the intracoastal waterway is looking for a "manatee spotter":
As a condition of the permit, one person has to be designated a manatee observer when work is being performed in the water. Work has to stop if a manatee is spotted within 50 feet of the in-water construction. An average of 15.6 manatees per survey flight was observed within a 5-mile radius of the project, according to the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. http://www.mypalmbeachpost.com/news/...popular_bottom |
Just be thankful there are no endangered salmon or there would be no project.
Well at least not with a suitcase full of cash to someone... |

They should probably give this job to some lifeguard from Daytona.... He'll have the most real world experience in the "spotting manatees" department. The manatees wear bathing suits up there, though, so that might require some retraining.

The sea cow nazis are already starting to circle in their kayaks over here on the west coast.
|
Can I spot them while I'm diving? I swam with them in Mexico but you can not go diving with them in the U.S. If it's a job that pays me to go diving I'm in.

Wouldn't the best viewing be from a BOAT. Mine or theirs
