HOT QUESTION! Pricing of 1997 36' Outlaw
I am in negotiations in buying a 1997 36' Outlaw with the SST package, Twin 385hp Mags 230 hrs on the boat, cockpit cover but no mooring cover. I would give the boat a 8.75 on a scale of 1 - 10. Only problem is the electric bolsters do not work (Quick Fix:confused: ) Please let me know what a awsome deal would be on this boat! And if anyone knows of any problems with this year, model! I have no idea what the pricing should be any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!:D

Please check to insure that the stringer system is in good condition. Baja had a recall on stringers in the 97, 98 year time frame. The factory made good on all the available boats in the field. It would be worth inquiring about. This boat will perform at approximately the mid 60 MPH range at best. It is a good boat if speed is not the priority in your boating needs. I believe that 85K would be an excellent deal for you. The small power is to your advantage when negotiating a price. You can always engine upgrade at a latter date. I hope that this information is beneficial. Good luck to you.
|
wow...i was going to say 50's...85k???...they should be looking at my AT then!!!
|
I agree.
|
I am looking at a current edition of N.A.D.A. Marine Appaisal Guide, which is what my banker uses. It lists a `97 Outlaw 36' with twin 385 hp at $81K (average retail). You can add a little more for things like stereo system, trailer, etc...
I personally think more like $70-75K would be a good buy. You need to look at BoatTrader online and do some comparison. Then again, if you`re looking to spend that much $$$, you have most likely already done your homework. |
You guys would be surprised...They hold their values better than most people think. I see most 98's 36's going for about 120's.
I couldn't find too many 97's for comparisson. I searched for 1996-1998. http://www.boattraderonline.com/adsearchprocess.html |
i would have to on crack to buy 1 98 with stockers for 120k!!! hell i'm sell'n my 2000 boat for less!!!
|
I would offer 65k to 70k boat dealers are very hungry right now.
|
That's just fine audacity....I'm just reporting what about a dozen ads stated when I searched. These are 36' boats(not 32), fully loaded and most with HP500s... Naturally, the stock power boats are less.
A 97 with stocker 454MAGS and 200 some odd hours would fetch about mid-70's to 80 depending on condition. |
I sold
I sold my 1999 36 outlaw with 502's for what I paid for it new 102k w/ext warr and 100hrs.
Dealer cost w/ 502's is around 100k with good options. cost w/ 500's about 115k. Stringer system sucks, took 4 times to get it right. Boat was a lot of fun. Great lines! with those motors ...not a penny over 65k. Maximus |
What's up Maximus...I saw your boat yesterday while I was sightseeing on my sick day. :D
|
$70k to $75k or less would be a good deal. Does it have a trailer or any other options?
It should run faster than 60 mph with that power. My friend runs upper 60's with his 502's. I would think it will run 63 to 64 mph with the 454 mags. I ran 67 on GPS with 454 Mag MPI's in my 35 Sonic which weighs approx. 100 lbs more according to the specs. |
"A 97 with stocker 454MAGS and 200 some odd hours would fetch about mid-70's to 80 depending on condition."
"I see most 98's 36's going for about 120's. " which one is it bro??? telling me is gona cost me 40-50K more for a boat that is one year newer?? |
Just my .02, mid-high 70s with trailer; low-mid without. Most of the ones I've seen for sale have HP500s.
|
"One year newer..."
...With bigger power! Maybe so, Look for yourself....It'll only take a minute. |
Price
The owner is trying to trade it for a $50,000 ski boat but the dealer wants to have the boat sold first before he'll do the deal. They are asking $79,900 I offered the dealer $65,000 and he kind of laughed. I told him I'll next day air him a $10,000 Deposit he changed his tune and said he would confer with the owner. We'll see!! Anyone know this boat it is out of Angola, Indiana.

Your offer of 65K is a good offer, stand firm, don't go much higher, but for what you are offering take a look at DJD 38 cig its a much nicer boat. Just my 02

Hey Audacity..... The main downfall to that AT is it has your name plastered all over it. "Audacity". That's kinda like that Hulk Hogan boat. LOL! Just messin' with ya.:p :p :p
OG Outlaw..Did you go look at the boat yet? Back4more says bottom paint???? Hope it isn't the same one for your benefit.... Good luck in your searching. Ps....Big Thunder has a 342 in LOTO that they really want to unload. Brand new 2000 I think it is..... Just FYI. Not the same lines as an Outlaw, but just mentioning it anyway. Mark |
OG Outlaw:
If it's the one with bottom paint you've got many, many, many hours of wet sanding and buffing ahead of you. Don't worry though, it can be done. My biggest worry, if this boat has been stored in the water, would be galvanic corrosion. Stainless steel, aluminum and stray current don't mix. Check the drives! They could be a corroded mess. Probably more hours than fixing the bottom. |
always bust my balls...i tell ya!!...no respect in this place!:D
hey for that price it should be able to say "puppy killer" on the side and vet looking to buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
OG,
Man, I hope you check out this boat before you sign the paperwork. I've been following this thread close. Sounds like a heck of deal...36' Outlaw for $65K?! Wow! Wish I could stumble across something like this. Heck finance some extra cash a put superchargers on it is my thought!!!! Now, the power is no issue. BUT, I would heed the advice of some fellow members here that may know more about the boat than you. If you can come up with $10K for a deposit, why not have the boat surveyed too. This way, you will have a peace of mind about your purchase! |
1997 36' outlaw HP500's 80k
