Looking for some advice on trailers
 

Looking for some opinions, I need to get a trailer should I go with a steel or Aluminum. It seems to me the Aluminum would be the better option no worries about it rusting, it weighs less. My big concern is the brackets that hold the bunks are bolted on and not welded is that a big deal I don’t want them to shift on me. And what is going to be a fair price for a 27 to 29 foot trailer. I have a 27 foot Baja 272. Thanks guys

Aluminum for sure. If the brackets are bolted properly and checked regularly, I don't see why that should be an issue.

If aluminum is in the price range go that route. You can also purchase an all welded Aluminum trailer. I recently had a Manning trailer fabricated and could not be happier with it. Granted it cost more than a bolt together, but it looks great!

I have had both and I will not go back to Steel given the choice.

If you are fresh water steel will be fine. I dont really see the need for aluminum except for in salt water.

I have an aluminum bolt together, no complaints. A friend was looking for a bolt together tandem for a 28', he bought a new Venture with disc brakes all the way around for about $5500.

I bought a new Venture alum. on the way to the east coast to haul back my new to me boat on and have to say the quality was good enough . You get what you pay for and yes they are not custom but it hauled 8000 lbs.back to the midwest and although my boat sits on a lift I'll keep the trailer for any road trips.

Ace Trailers in Florida made me one for my 26 Rumrunner..all around better than venture for less $$...they called Sutphen to get the specs to ensure a perfect fit.

Nothing against people who own venture trailers but those things are junk...they take a lot of short cuts. I always vouch for real extreme trailer they make one of the nicest bolt together aluminum rigs. Just my 0.02.

I'd only ever buy an Aluminum trailer, regardless of budget.
When it comes to resale, steel trailers cut your target buyers by 75%. No Gulf, West, or East coast proximity boaters want a steel trailer. All you have left is Midwest/Canada.
Of course, you can always put a new trailer under a boat, but no one enjoys swallowing that pill.
