In my eyes this is very attractive. The cockpit is plenty roomy and wide (I'll try to find a pic or two). Tons of room around the engine. Good sized cabin.

But what really turns me on about the 7' beam is the performance benefits. Much better in the rough conditions since it slices through the water with ease. Narrower means less resistance pushing the boat through the water. And having a 7' beam also means the boat is considerably lighter. Not to mention it's that much easier to trailer and maneuver.

People seem to get stuck on that 7' beam thing. I really do not miss the extra foot. In terms of pleasure use you may loose space for 1 person. The space between the front seats is a little tight too. I don't like having a boat load of passengers anyway. I am usually out with my wife and two kids and have adequate space. I feel the performance benefits far outway other concerns.

Dave,
Is your cabin (on the 24') similar to the 30/Y2K?

It looks like this. I have 3' facing setees that you can't really see in this picture. The cabin is gelcoated fiberglass, vinyl cushions, porta-potti, and a cloth headliner. There is the front storage compartment, another under the berth. There is another compartment that gives easy access to the back of the dash. It is very basic, easy to keep clean. There is not tons of head room but that is the case with any flat deck boat. I have never actually seen the cabin of the y2k. I think John will customize it anyway you want. I have seen the cabin in the '34 and it is pretty nice.
