Miss Geico Team U.S.A.

To me they have been one of the most recognized Offshore Powerboats Race Teams around. Their Boats, Towing Rigs, Pit Setup are very eye catching and is exactly what the race fans expect and want to see. When you see them you know they are the Ultimate Ambassadors of the sport of Offshore Powerboat Racing. I have watched them racing for years and have never gotten tired of watching them, win or lose, they are the best of the sport along with their Sponsors. The only thing that I don't like is that I don't see them racing anymore at some of the OPA Races like the St. Clair River Classic and Port Huron/Sarnia International Powerboat Race. anymore but I still love that team. Good Luck in 2016.

Im nobody but it seems to me that they have done something right, when Miss Geico was beating CMS every time, I never saw a thread started called "CMS Performance - discuss"

Being one of the little guys, every race I have ever attended that Miss geico was not in attendance, the fans have always come into my pit stall and asked "where is Miss Geico?" If I had a buck for every time that question was asked, I could have filled up my gas tank for the race... Our sport has been a dog chasing its tail for some time and the Miss Geico team has brought us notoriety, paid for television, billboards, fed all of us (fans and racers alike) and yet people have the audacity to bash them when yes they are far from perfect, but have done more good for the sport than bad... The Big 5 arent dummies and I am sure they have been in meetings all week, evaluating 2015 and proposing changes for next years program...

Like I said, Im nobody.... SMH

I know this video is from the Haggin days but I would say they have certainly brought the sport some attention. And still do.

How can you watch this and NOT smile.

I don't think you will ever see anything like that again. It sure put a big smile on my face, thanks for posting it.

Exactly, if you state a fact about a losing team you are a hater. Miss Geico, for years, bragged about whooping everyone's you know what, when in reality they had no competition. It is easy to be world champion when there are no other boats in your class (turbine). Granted, it was not their fault that no one ran in their class, but how you handle certain things ,sometimes rubs some people the wrong way. A big announcement was made in 2013, that Miss Geico had a deal with Mercury to be the first to run their "new" 1650 engines. As history shows, they have had limited success with these engines. Last year, I read a story where one of Miss Geico's principles stated that they were the only team to run most of the races during the season and the other teams "saved" their equipment for Key West. This from a man that I personally heard several years ago, at the OPA World finals in Orange Beach, tell an official that they were not going to run Friday, so they could save their equipment for Key West. A post was written that MGR's boat was becoming old and obsolete. A good thing "Cat Can Do" 's owner doesn't feel that way about his boat. Congrats on your wins. Another post was written about if you don't run Mercury power, don't expect to win, again tell that to "Cat Can Do" with their Sterling power. Bottom line, be humble in your success, and have praise for your competition when you loss, and maybe, you can gain more people's respect and eliminate the so called "haters".

You do realize that Geico has won the worlds in 2013 and 2014 with the 1650 mercs. While Cat Can Do did win, How many races have they run against the likes of Geico and CMS where they have to push their equipment to the max every lap?

MGR's results in KW certainly weren't from a lack of effort. I believe they lost 4 motors, even borrowing one from CRC, +1 more engine failure at Englewood. Last year I think they ran all 3 days in KW on the same power. Either extremely bad luck this year or something happened to the engine program, or both. Regardless, they're always fun to watch.
