I've been on the shores of the big finger lakes. But I've only boated on keuka lake near Penn Yan. A family friend owned the Viking Resort on Keuka, its a mixture of hotel rooms and a few cabins. Since my family had free cabins on that lake we stayed there. Unfortunately Kenny died a few years ago. Not that we don't like his son, we are not really friends with him. Guess taking a long time to say, we won't be going to Keuka anymore.

Another thought here. Are you planning on doing this on weekends or week long trips? I can tell you if these are weekend getaways, you are going to get the sh1t beat out of you on Lake Winnipesaukee in a 20 foot boat during the summer. During the week you will love it. Also, before 4th of July the lake is much less busy but the water is cooler and after labor day is some of the best boating you can have, and the water is still nice and warm. Weekends during July and August can best be described as full contact boating.

Lake Michigan
Lake Huron St. Clair River Lake St. Clair Detroit River Lake Erie You know Lake George has a 45 mph speed limit, enforced sound limits and you need to pass an inspection and get a special permit to boat on the lake. That lake is definitely not on my bucket list! |
