Went on a field trip today......

Not really a boating related post, but I thought that since we are all performance freaks, I'd share the photo's.
I went to SEMA last year and met Ken Ligenfelter through a friend of mine who has been buddies with Ken for years. Long story short, he invited me to come anytime to visit, and see his "collection".... It is not open to the public, although he does open the viewing to charity organizations for private parties.

I also went to the engine lab and took a tour through that as well.....

Well today, I went up to visit and got the tour of of a lifetime! I saw vehicles that are INCREDIBLE, and was so blown away that I was almost speechless!

For those of you that may have seen this collection, you must agree that these are some of the FINEST cars in the world!

How about the 1955 Corvette "Duntov Mule" test car!!
That is the original, "hand casted" small block!
Unbelievable!

Sorry for the sideways pictures...

From our discussion, his passion is truly cars. He has an incredible line up of Ferrari's and his Corvette collection is just amazing.... The amount of "one of...." Is just crazy!

This COPO was brought directly from GM to Summit Raceway in Ohio where it made its public debut...
It was fired up for the first time, and promptly run down the track....

Mike, I've been in some clean shops before, but the engine assembly room was like a "clean room" as was the rest of the R&D facility... I was only allowed to take a few pictures there. They are doing the fit up for the 2016 Camaro supercharger work.

The guys from Magnuson flew in from California and we weren't allowed to see the secret stuff they had going on....

Flightplan 12-07-2015 09:19 PM

The sideways pic thing is usually because you are posting on an Ipad. They right themselves when clicked. Posting them smaller helps sometimes. Great pics.

Hey Dave! It's a Falcon, twin turbo, 1000 hp, built in Milford, MI... Less than 10 manufactured... Designed by an Ex GM guy.....

^Cool article, the old man had a '94 Z, was a pretty neat car along with all the development, the following, and behind the scenes stuff going on. Kind of an oddball and what made it so neat versus the standard Corvettes of that era. Really changed my opinion of Corvettes as a 14 year old. (may have seen 164mph on the Kentucky toll road once on the way to Bowling Green, which back then was pretty fast....)

Those Falcon F7s are sick! Jeff Lemke designed and built. He is also the one who built the Street Serpent widebody Vipers. That red one pictured may be car #1?

Yes Jason, he owns them ALL! And he is a very cool, down to earth guy.He took some time and talked with me yesterday even though he just flew in from California in the morning from the dedication ceremony for the new Peterson museum. He continues to buy cars that he finds "interesting", and then he may sell off some through auction or to other buyers.

I believe that you are correct, it is the number 1 car.....

These cars are the "favorite" ones. There is another stash of vehicles in another location, and some are out on loan, others are being used at industry shows like SEMA and this week is the PRI show.

Believe me, I was honored, thrilled, amazed, awestruck, and a bunch of other adjectives when I walked into that building...:faint2:

buck35 12-08-2015 11:50 AM

Wow,wow and more wow! What a thrill to get a private tour of such a collection.
