cat vs v hull

I can use some education here. Opinions on 2 different Warlocks.
First a 23 offshore ( v-hull )bbc or second a 25sxt cat with twin ob's. I live on the Cheasapeake bay where it seems to get rough alot. Normal day is proably 1-3 ft. The last boat I owned was a 21 Checkmate ob. While fun for the most part we would usually get beat up. Out of the 2 Warlocks, how about some pros and cons from people who know.
Thanks
P.S. money seems to be right on both, so looking for other pros and cons!

Welcome to the board ! I know nothing about the 2 cats you ask about . All I can say is , Cats are where it's at ! ANd bigger is better !

Don't get me wrong , I love the big old classic V bottoms ( and a few of the new ones ) But with the efficiency , speed and ride , size for size you can't beat a cat . Good luck in your search . Find one and drive it . It's the only way to be sure . Good luck ,JOE

I don't think you'ed want to be running through 3 footers in a 25sxt

I have to agree with Cig1 on this one, I think I would want at least 28 feet of cat under me in 3 footers.

a 23 offshore ( v-hull )bbc

a budy has one and it runs real nice in the callm waters here in puget sound. but with its low freeboard I wouldnt want to run it in 4 footers. He as a 2001 502 efi in itand runs 70's. Charlie

tmull44,

I would not go with the 25 Cat for the Chesapeake Bay. I own
a 30 Motion and it handles it good (wish it was bigger) and a few friends own 25 AO's and 25 Talon's they can not handle anything over 2ft for a good ride. They also have a larger freeboard then the Warlock. If that is a brand you want to buy I would go for the Vee hull.
My experience on the Bay is a 30 min. length on a Vee or Cat, Just so you can handle most seas in our area.
I've almost stuffed my 38 Scarab one year out on our
Chesapeake Bay.

Just my .02

Call me if you need info, I have plenty of contactsin our area to help you make your mind up on what you want.

If its really rough, buy a bat!

Of the 2, I would prefer the 23 bbc.

I love cats as well as anyone..just sold a 25 Talon..had a blast ,however not in 3 plus footers..certainly not cruiser wake.!!

I think you may wind up going thru a few and leave with the famous quote from Jaws.."Were gonna need a bigger boat"!!

I've got a 25SXT with outboards, it's great for 95% of the boating we do in Puget Sound the other 5% of the time we get wet, they are a real wet riding boat when the waves pick up. I would agree that the 23 V would be better in the rough stuff. If you want to go fast though the Cat Rules!:D :D

What outboards does it have? What year is it?Ours is a 1996 with 3litre 250horse Mercs.
If you don't mind could you email me with the asking price on the cat, I'm thinking about moving up next year and am trying to come up with a fair price to ask.
