the Foil could very well be in keeping with the Stepped hull. Although the first stepped hull was around 1906, they faded away until the last 30 years or so and there are still year to year innovations with regards to placement and shape.

Foils work and with some serious updating to fin shape it can be a viable option....this company at least opted for a retractable fins for practicality on their Chris Craft Launch
