Lost a small portion of Miami Vice today: RIP Glenn Frey

I've never been a Eagles fan, but this song was tops, and I'll always remember the words.

Bad month for rock stars. Weiland, Lemmy, Bowie and now Frey.

Sucks! RIP guys.

Anybody that has a "Y" sound in their name....

Meh, I know the popular songs, but I don't seek out their music.

Wildman_grafix 01-18-2016 08:43 PM

Just heard it on the way home RIP, I "think" they were my second concert I ever seen.

LaughingCat 01-18-2016 08:45 PM

Excellent 2hr documentary on Eagles out there. Totally changed my perspective. Glenn was monster talent. RIP

Yeah, he truly was. And he attracted monster talent.

First the Thin White Duke, now Glenn Frey. Sad days, for sure.

Rest in peace, gentlemen. Thank you for the great music.

Godspeed Glenn Frey

Sucks people we watch growing up are going way to fast!!!

Keytime 01-18-2016 11:30 PM

My first album was Eagles Greatest Hits, 1971-1975. I recall family trips out west in our Ford van listening to that on 8-track along with Fleetwood Mac, Abba, Neil Diamond. lol

The Eagles had that strong southwest feel for me. Perhaps that's how I relate them. Or maybe something to do with Winslow, AZ. :)

Godspeed, Glenn.

RIP....It will be another Eagles night at the cave.

Not to mention the "Smugglers Blues" from Miami Vice as well.

Like most bands, what gets air play and makes the top 40 list may not always be their best stuff.

LaughingCat 01-19-2016 11:27 AM

The first entry on this site might be the documentary.

Just saying....Personally I loved the eagles and all their dynamics.

I said the same thing. But if you really think about it, I would call 3 of the 4 rock and roll legends. The forth (Weiland) I wouldn't call a "legend". Definitely left his mark, but I think the other 3 were well above him.

Lemmy only had one Grammy, Frey had a six pack, and Weiland and Bowie each had two. Those are peer-presented awards. I'm not an STP or VR fan boy, I'm just sayin'.

LaughingCat 01-19-2016 05:43 PM

Jimmy Buffet has no awards and is light years ahead of Weiland
