A Progression 29' weighs 2660 rigged minus power. I thought CF was supposed to be lighter? That thing must be laid up like a tank.
From the article: "Without its 1,094-pound Seven Marine outboard engine mounted on an Armstrong Nautical bracket, the 28-footer with an 8’4” beam weighs 3,000 pounds."

I was kind of wondering if you were patterning your Saturday writing style after Hemingway or Hunter S Thompson, and the weight and MSRP were typos! That price is steep. Kilimanjaro steep.

On a slightly more serious note, the boat (according to the builder's press release) is targeted for the yacht tender market so perhaps it needs to be particularly brawny. Just a wild guess, could be way off.
Last time I checked for a story (in the March/April 2015 Speed On The Water digital magazine), the list price for the Seven Marine 627 was $89,500, so quite a bit of the boat's price is tied up in power. Not excusing, defending, attacking or anything like that, just adding a relevant—I hope—data point.

89K for an outboard, its hard for me to get it, but when Mercury prices O-rings for 20 bucks, it becomes clearer, but then again maybe NOT

Maybe the price is in Canadian peso's, that would equate to around $200,000 of your funny green dollars.
If on the other hand it is priced in US$, then any manufacturers want to come up here and build boats I got the production space available
