Moisture meter for inspections

How effective are these pinless moisture meters for detecting wet transoms and stringers.

This should work through Fiberglas. Right? Shows depth of 1.6".

Ohm meters can work well also, take out a few screws inside engine compartment and stick the probes right in. if its wet it will tell you,

thermal style ones work good... i have a skipper plus

I highly doubt the one pictured will work through fiberglass, at least not accurately.
