Active Thunder Last-Minute Scratch From Miami Show
Disappointing to see Active Thunder withdraw from the show—we were looking forward to seeing the 29 Savage sportboat up close and personal, http://speedonthewater.com/in-the-ne...rom-miami-show.
Heal up soon, Patrick and Casey Haughey. |
That is a bummer. I too was very much looking forward to seeing that boat up close as it is a personal fav of mine and one I hope to get.
Feel better Pat. |
At least he remains upbeat. I'd be happy to stick Fast At Last in the slip for him to have a presence. She might not be "show" quality quite yet though.

Pat and I talked about this last night.
Here's the thing not in the article: AT is running at full capacity. With boats being built, more orders yet to fill, and 2 new models in development, Pat made the right business decision given the circumstances. As you know, Pat is hands on with every step of each boat. The 29AT is a runner, not a statue. The slip was going to be dock-locked anyhow; no rides. Opening the doors to the factory, (actually, they are always open) is a solid way to experience all that is Actve Thunder; and arrangements have been made to bring up "active" customers that need to experience the runner that is AT. And they can go for a ride. |
What is the layout of the 33 with OB's? Did you guys change it this time to take advantage of the added room?

It will be different, yes. It's in final mock up right now, and hopefully some pics soon. The only reason the last one kept the "bilge" compartment is because the owner wanted to store his large fenders for tying up next to his yacht; as the 33 is his tender. |

Thats stinks to lose the money paid for the space as of course that could have been spent for other avenues in advertising your boats. . Possible if you still displayed at the show a few other people could have traded off some time frames to just hang around and pass out biz cards plus show the boat. I would have helped for a half day at least. Just saying. Heck I always like to talk boats anyways plus not my first boatshow for showing boats.

I may just stop by tomorrow and check out the factory!

Man, I'm just thrilled to hear that AT is so busy with orders! That's just great news in this current economy.

Thanks to all of you supporters!
Funny I didn't know how many friends I had until Matt posted this story. The posts are minimal compared to the phone calls and emails offering to step in, including some fellow boat builders saying if they knew they would have manned my dock. Wow! If you run out of boat show patience please call and I will open the factory to show you around any time all day Saturday or Sunday until 3:00 pm. Back in the saddle Monday morning at 7:00 am. |

Kudos to you and all those who offered to help out! Keep on building some amazing boats! |
Focusing on customer service rather then a trade show buzz is a good call. Not sure if any of the backlog is for Midwestern customers but April delivery means everything to us. Went thru this last year with our new Cig they hit our timeline to the day.
Kudos AT! |
Been on the phone with Pat the past few weeks sending him some potential clients. If I didn't have to manage the Harley Davidson dealership I work at this weekend in West Palm Beach, I would've volunteered to help rep Active Thunder at the show this weekend...almost like I never left! lol
