Life Jacket Question
Gentleman -
What do you guys recommend for a life jacket for high speed pleasure boating, Poker Running, etc... ? It's probably time I invested in some real life jackets. I know Life Line is the standard, but what model specifically? And where would you buy them? Teague Marine? Thanks, MDS |
Right from Lifeline, great guy.

Expensive but the answer is in the name.... LIFEline...invested a lot of money in mine, and so have many other people, but we put irreplaceable items within them.
I run the sport vest.... can customize colors to suit your needs. |
Great people at Lifeline.
They aren't USCG approved, though, so you still have to keep USCG PFD's on board for safety inspections. |
Anyone using the aviator sit down version from lifeline?

we believe in safety, USCG approved and in racing mandated orange color.

I bought 4 for my family when we did poker runs.
They were very expensive, but they are the best. |
We use the Mustang Elite Inflatable Automatic... Quite comfortable. Found them on an eBay store for a good price, new. Bought 5 or 6 at one time. Think we paid $195 a piece. Hard to put a price on safety when you're running 100 mph plus!!!

Lifeline was a pleasure to deal with , sent a jacket to them that was out of date and it came back like new ........they even put a wedding band in the box for me
|
Inflatables are for drunk fisherman falling off their boats. Not for high speed impact. I would go so far as to say they might be lethal with that belt wrapped around your body. Those orange five dollar jackets are a joke. Again could be lethal on a high speed impact. Poker Run Lifelines are the real deal.

^What he said. If you come out of the boat at speed, those vests are going to get ripped off of you. Thats why the lifeline has crotch straps to keep it on.
The lifelines aren't CG approved, not because they're not safe, but because they're all custom. They would have to do the CG approval process on each vest individually basically. They do make a lot of "standard" sizes that you see Teague sell, but I'm not sure its enough to do the CG approval. |
Lifeline. I ordered two custom jackets last year for me and the wife. Expensive but nice jackets and good customer service. Can't put a coat limit on good jackets.
|
Good info.. would you say the comfort level of sitting in a bolster sit is still good with the sport vest and not allowing it to climb up. I typically stand but wife sits more often. (only reason I would have considered the Lifeline aviator series was for comfort sitting)
|
I sit with the lifeline sport jacket and its comfortable. I don't notice it riding up at all. Hardly even notice I'm wearing it.
|
Ordered two Lifelines with custom colors to match my boat. Possibly the only Checkmate owner to do that, but there's nothing more important than the safety of you and your passengers.
