Don Aronow's Mercedes
1 Attachment(s)
We just acquired Don's 1984 Mercedes 500 SEC from the second owner.
He bought it new & his wife Shirley sold it to a friend of mine many, many years ago. This is not the car he was murdered in. That was a 560SL. Check it out maybe one of you guys would like to have piece of Aronow history |
Way cool!!

in Silver could be Patrick Swayzey in Roadhouse. Great cars and will last a lifetime.
|
That's pretty awesome Steve! Bobby knows I had been eyeballing big MB coupes, but I ended up with a E-Class Designo a few months back. Else I would be really tempted!!

Not much for those foreign cars but I have a soft spot for the 560 amg mercedes after taking a 160mph ride in a Federal Judges car in about 1987 (I think) on a Houston Freeway Not the car pictured |

Anyone know what happened to his 560 SL?
For you history buffs, this 500 SEC was built about 8 years after Don sold Cigarette so you probably can't put a Cigarette license plate on the front and be history correct! :D You would have to find a Blue Thunder or whatever he was building in 1984-85. |

----I used to work for AMG of North America back when there was an AMG of NA. We were based out of Chicago and brought in all the add-ons as well as whole cars done by AMG. Saw some crazy stuff back then. We had several wide-body, 4-cam SECs come thru similar to the above. My boss and AMG had a falling out and AMG bought our company out. I still have a 1990 SEC with some of the stuff, but no engine mods. The 1st gear start has been done, as well as a bit of lowering and a set of 18s and monochromatic paint done on a black pearl car. Only has a bit over 30,000 original miles and is mint. Anybody want it??? It doesn't get much use since I bought a Bentley Continental GT Speed........Bill S

The black car pictured is a 560 widebody...rarest of the rare when it comes to vintage AMG's.
The local police never messed with him. Went to pick up the car from his house on a trailer one time and got stopped by 3 local police cars leaving the neighborhood. Had to sit at the side of the road until someone could get a message to the judge who was in court at the time. |
----Yup,,,That was Westmont. Cant remember the name of that shop. I have since moved twice and am now about 40 miles north of Detroit, 2000 feet from Canada. I also managed Classic Motors in Hinsdale. Restored and sold a bunch of Corvettes and all manor of Muscle back then. I have many, many great friends in the Chicago area (particularly Naperville as I worked for a homebuilder there for a year as well). that can vouch for me. If you are interested My phone # is 810-420-0431 . The SEC is probably the best one in Michigan.........Bill S

Do you have this listed over on MB World forum, that would be the place to list something like this. I've got nearly 7,000 post count over there and own the fastest MB in the world so let me know if you want me to help you pimp it over there. AMG private lounge has a lot of guys who collect vintage MB's as well, that would be a good place to mention this even though it's not an AMG....too bad it's not the AMG version I would be cutting you a check for it right now, cool car nonetheless.

The car is really nice for a 1984,
Always kept in a garage since new, with a lot of new parts to keep it up. |
