I don't like wasting the time when your trying to clean your engine compartment and the drain in the back does not flow as much as the hose and you have to keep waiting on the water to drain out. So we went with bigger drain plugs then normal (on left, right is normal size). And it is semi permanently attached that way you don't forget them at home or have them hooked to boat with a cable and have the wind beat it against the boat when your hauling it.

I'm still debating on putting a plug on the port outside back edge that will be the low spot when its tilted on the trailer. We may have to leave it sitting somewhere for months and if the cover came off and it was getting rain in it then it could fill up.

who makes that bigger drain plug I need one like that for the same reason.

Now that's something you could sell.

How many have forgotten the plug! At least it would still be right there!

Had one of those in both my Pantera & the Nor-Tech CC. Agreed, much easier to deal with + flows way more water as you mentioned. Drop 1 nut or bolt in the bilge w/ the typical drain plug and it obstructs the draining even more.

The start of building the transmissions and drop boxes. When I say the start, I mean the start. Not buying some parts and assembling them, or putting a few extra clutches in an existing transmission. Here is the big piece of 8620 steel we are cutting to make the gears. The blanks cut out.

Made a fixture to locate the gears through the process of machining. The start of machining. And one side of the gear pocketed/lightened.

SeaDogLine, it is called a captive garboard drain and plug. They make both round (direct replacement) and oval, the oval is so it can be mounted lower in the bilge for more water removal. Both are 316 cast stainless. I have a spare round one brand new still in unopened package you can have for $20 shipped. They both have the same size drain; 1 1/8" OD for the part that passes through the transom.

The gears pocketed, and holes to make them lighter. The gear sitting next to it for size comparison is a gear out of the Drop box in the Budweiser race boat that had Sterling 1550's and was ran for several years and never broke. Mine are a little bigger.
