I thought I was really proud and accomplished when I bolted some billet battery boxes in my bilge! The level of skill and planning for this build is mind boggling to me. I can't imagine the feeling of pride to put this all together. Each post seems to me like another victory in the battle to finish, I think we all here know how much of a fight our boats can give us at times. This by far has been the best project I've seen here on OSO. Thank you all for sharing!

We tested a butt weld also. Jim has a testing machine that will pull stuff apart to see its failure strength but it does not go over 12k lbs or we would have actually put a lifting eye in it and bolted it down to pull it apart to find the break strength.

Just friendly ribbing lol. Everything on you're boat is built to the max, and the attention to detail is incredible!

Every hole that I put in the boat that a hose or wire will run through gets resin/fiberglassed and then a pvc sleeve glassed into it. That gives it a smooth, tapered hole that is insulated to go through. Here are a few examples.

An interesting fact I just stumbled onto..

Red Bull recently launched their own TV channel on Roku, and are well known for their sponsorship of the wildest world record attempts one can imagine. So when I spotted a video on a 2015/2016 circumnavigation record attempt, I just had to watch. While this new trimaran "Spindrift II" failed to claim the Jules Verne Trophy for a sailing vessel circumnavigation, what is more interesting is the fact that a sailboat actually holds the record...

So I looked back on the EarthRace page and sure enough, they hold the engine powered record at 60 days, while a sail boat holds the overall record at 45days 13hrs 42min..

The time established by Earthrace did not supersede the overall record set by the 103-ft sailing trimaran Groupama 3 skipped by Franck Cammas with 48d 7h 44' 52"[3] or the latest 2012 record set by Banque Populaire V, a 131-ft trimaran skipped by Loïck Peyron, with 45d 13h 42' 53".

With all of our modern technology, I find it most interesting that sail power still prevails as fastest way around the globe on water.
