so if you ended up making the aluminum block and head, would you expect the same hp/torq numbers and endurance @ hi rpm.
how much would closed cooling weigh and would it have to be up sized to contend w/ the extended hi rpm runs like your planning
what do you figure the weight savings would be

seems an engine like that or a detuned version could also shine in the sportfisher world

congrats to the winners

My gearbox alone weighs 200 lbs and its rated at 700+ hp and 1500+ lbs
Do you think that unit will handle what your about to through at it?
It looks really small in comparison.

Your gear box probably weighs more then 200 lbs.

my complete running package from pulley to prop nut is right at 1500 lbs

I weighed every item individually in the build.
Engine, box, drive, trim rams etc and the ZF box was just a tad over 200 lbs with oil.

260 lbs seems light for a #8 drive, extension box, drive line, guards, back plates, gearbox cooler etc.

Is the #8 lighter than a #6 as i have no experience with these drives only #6

i have not weighed the number 8 but I called mercury a couple days ago to get the weight of 700 and 1350 and I ask them about the #8 and they said a little over 200lbs then add 24 for extension box and 25 for drive shaft, transmissions cooler is in the sea strainer

1720lbs 1350 Engine and Drive
280 lbs M8 Drive

Your power to weight ratio is certainly impressive, only time will tell if the components are strong enough to withstand the vigorous demands of boating.
If so I might be time to change my package in the not to distant future.

Not sure if you are aware Fleece are doing a Cummins billet block (competition only at this point).
With cross bolted main caps to help keep the bottom end together, same as the Seatek.
Might be a nice upgrade at a later date if the cast one doesn't hold up, I am sue they will be able to add water jackets.
