what should a great poker run.....be ?

What should a poker run , be?
What makes for a great Poker Run ? Is it the location ? the food ? the parties? The guests ? the host? the Cause? The boats ? Just exactly what might itbe ? It seems to be like defining the perfect relationship, It Is just a certin combination of factors that come together exacty how, we are not sure. But when it is right it is right .. I think that the most important factor that should be there right from the start and all the way to the finish…ENTHUSIASM! . It seems that getting some poker runs going are a constant uo hill struggle. . Of late I have heard that some poker run will fall off the map and it is not that those events are not great it seems that enthusiasm is lacking…. Unless it comes on an app on your phone some people just can not be bothered . Having FUN is an active sport . gey excited and DO something . Run that poker run get out there and make make it happen this goes as much for the guests as the sponsors…..

To me a poker run should be a fun full weekend of boating and get together / parties. It's the running with a large group of similar boats that makes it great on the water and it's the energy on the dock that makes a great party. To me the party should be at the dock not off in a hotel ballroom etc. All of the items you listed above are part of making a run great but not all have to be hit 100% it's finding the right balance between them.

From what I've seen rising costs and the toning down of the party's are what have killed a couple runs on the participation side. I think there are a lot of runs that are trying to compete to see how much money they can raise and while that's great it turns a lot of people off that are going for the comradery and parties. I've also seen a couple runs with questionable charities so that runs people off. There aren't as many people getting into the sport and the ones that are on the kuff aren't sure whether they would fit into the runs even though it's the new blood that normally keeps them going.

On the other side there is a crap ton of work that goes into setting up and managing a run and not a lot of credit goes back to those that do it so it's hard to keep people wanting to organize them and take on liability.
