Formula 28 -33 SS
I have a friend in the market for one of these or similar, he has been talking about it for a while but it sounds like he is ready. He is moving up from a 24 Sea Ray so I think the 28 is a good next step, personally think the 33 is a little big for his needs, he will be rack storing so that is also a consideration. I have never been on or around either one of these, how do the two compare?
Budget is about $75K ish , no bottom paint, any good leads or info on this boat or something similar? I have asked this question in the past for the same guy but he's got the cash now so I think he's ready. |
there are alot of 330 ss formulas at LOTO should be no problem with that budget. The formulas perform much better than the sea rays

He wants a 310 SS. Decent size....fast enough and easy to handle. Finding one at that price may be harder.

The 28 is a great day boat, the 33 is obviously bigger and more roomy. They are not speed burners, but quite stable and easy to board etc. I would want at least the 260 (300 would be better) small blocks on the 28 and 330's on the 33'.

My 310 SS has 6.2L V8's each putting out a decent 320 bhp. On plane quickly....cruises very well at 33 mph and just the best hull in the business. Beautiful boats and friends love it for speed and comfort.

actually anywhere up north, where there is winter, and have been boating in fresh water why winter? the boat looks newer because of the short boating season. In NJ we store boats for 7 months. . |
Where down here in Florida there are probably less than seven weeks a year we cannot use a boat.

stepped up last season to a 33ss from a 28ss after owning it 4 years. good solid boats, not speed demons. went from day boaters to comfortable overnighters. more room for entertaining and stowage. wife loves the acdc fridge on the 33. i put a dorm size fridge in the 28ss under the sink. in the 33 fridge in cabin and now cooler under sink. we made the move mainly because of all the grandkids. can still wakeboard, tube ,waterski with them and take off overnighting when we want some down time. personally i think the 33 handles better, can not say exactly why, just i am more comfortable with it around the dock and any narrow confines. depending on what you want from them they are both good choices. good luck

Would your friend have any interest in a 2002 searay 290 ss? Not a formula, but low hrs and similar layout.

thanks all, I've been steering him towards the 310 with 6.2's , from what Ive seen he can find one for 80-100K
Osessed, he loves his Sea Ray so who knows, I think he is looking for something newer but if you have it listed send me a link |
