Lake St. Clair Question

Guys,

My apologies, if the answer has already been put up here somewhere................but I was wondering if anyone was ever able to get ahold of the person in the helicopter that was taking pics over Laks St Clair during the summer (mostly August). Rumor had it the guy was on Harsen's Island.

Anyways, If someone has any contact info that wouldn't mind posting it, that would be great.

Thanks,
RJ

Thanks

I went there before, just wasn't sure if anyone confirmed it. Maybe I'll give them a call.

Advantage_Rob 09-24-2002 01:20 PM

They followed me on my way into jobbienooner2, I was courteous, and put the hammer down for him and hit all the cruiser wakes I could find. If you find out anything, post it so I can follow up as well.

That helicoper passed over me while I was in the middle channel on Jobbie Nooner 2 day. I sent my info into boat pix to see if they took any photos and to send them to me, I'll post if I get a response.

tmager 09-25-2002 08:10 PM

Rob, I did not see you or your boat at jobbie nooner 2? I was there with Milord from about 1-2.

Centsless 09-26-2002 10:16 AM

It was boatpix. I submitted their email form requesting pic's and they actually called my husband back about a month later confirming it was them. They told him they were still searching through the photos and would get back with us.

I'd say your best bet is to log on to their web site and fill out the request form. :D

Got the call

Guys,

Just as an update, I got a voice mail from boatpix. They told me that was not them, and that they did not have my MC numbers on file.

I filled out the form & described where, when, who, etc. Like I said, they called me back & told me that they would let me know if something came up based on the info I gave them.

So what do they do, put your registration numbers in a database ? or do they list all the pics by date location ?........Just curious. In anycase, it was cool to recieve a response.

On the other hand, I have heard one of my friends mention that someone (not boatpix, I think just a private guy) has contacted people this last weekend (he heard this at Jacks but was unable to get any contact info). He'd like some pics too.

Well, I guess I'll just wait - I'll post if I find out anything.

Later,
RJ

Hey Tom, I was there, I hung out on my boat most of the time though. MY friend Jason was followed from Jacks almost all the way to sinbads this saturday. So if anyone get's info, we gotta let everryone know.

Way back at the first Jobbienooner this year we we're heading towards Gull when I heard this ungodly thumping noise. Startled, I started looking around inside the boat to see what had come loose. I then noticed that helicopter about 30 ft. off of the water running right along side of us. I'd love to get a copy of that photo!

tmager 10-02-2002 09:44 AM

Maybe next spring we should get a group of boats together and have boat pix follow us. I am looking into taking up a flying raft and see if those are feasible for taking photos. I called on renting a helicopter, 410 bucks an hours and I would need it for 2-3 hours, too much money for me to put up front.

Ratchet 10-02-2002 12:29 PM

Let's do it

If you decide to set it up next year, let me know, I'm sure I know a couple of people interested in getting some pics !

If we all throw in a few bucks it wouldn't be so bad...........I think for the most part, we could get enough footage to make everyone happy. Heck, we could even get some footage / or pics of everyone that chipped in running in a group. That'd be a good pic to look at in the winter !

WHOS IN ?

I had a helicopter follow me at Lake St. Clair over the 4th of July weekend. Submitted a requested to BoatPix.com and just got the pictures the other day. The Pics are pretty good, but I had hoped for better. They sent 4 pictures, 3 were 8X10 and 1 16X20. The 8X10’s are $100 and 16X20 is $250. You get a 30% discount if you purchase the whole package. I’m still debating, they give you 10 days to decide. I’ll probably get them, after all, I’ve been boating for years and this is the only time I’ve had a chopper take pictures of me.

tmager 10-03-2002 09:39 AM

Everyone that would like to get a helicopter shot going, send me a response by email to [email protected], that way when I have together I can send everyone an email.

Thanks
Tom

Tom,
The guy who’s usually out at Muscamoot with the flying dingy gives demo rides. I think it’s like $25 for 15 minutes or so. I know after a 15 minute ride he’s then got to land and find another rider. He seems to keep busy, but if we could arrange something where we used him for a couple hours for a couple hundred, it might work out for everyone. I’ve run across the lake when he’s out and he probably runs around 50 mph (I’m sure it depends on wind conditions). A helicopter is probably the best idea, but this might work pretty good for a lot less money.

tmager 10-03-2002 04:21 PM

I talk to the dealer at the boat show, said he would take me for a demo for $50. Then he will take me up for about a hundred bucks an hour, so I will give him a call and try to get out.

tmager 10-13-2002 10:40 AM

Boat Pix sent me the photos yesterday, its 275 bucks for 3 8x10s and 1 14x20. Great shots, but the grain is a little heavy and dust spots on the prints. Debating on buying them, maybe try to get some better quality prints and I will do it. Anyone want to see them, let me know.

tmager 10-21-2002 02:39 PM

Sent my photos back today. I just didn't feel the quality of prints was worth the $275 price tag. Its just a matter my opinion

BoatChic 10-21-2002 02:46 PM

Did you scan them first?!

That is alot of $$ for 4 photos.

tmager 10-21-2002 03:32 PM

That's illegal, I have a professional photography business on the side and it sucks when I find out someone has taken my work and scanned it.
